About

Hi, I’m Monika — an artist, writer, photographer, and lifelong seeker.

Born and raised in the vibrant San Francisco Bay Area, I’ve been deeply shaped by its rich diversity, originality, and spirit of innovation. It’s where my creative journey began and continues to evolve.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been searching — for truth, meaning, and what it means to truly come alive. Again and again, that search brings me back to this simple but profound calling: to create. To write, to photograph, to express myself and explore the questions that stir within me. Here, I share what I’ve learned — from my own lived experiences and from the countless books, podcasts, and ideas that have illuminated my path.

I’m also an educator, an avid reader, a researcher, and a collector of information. I credit my time at Sarah Lawrence College, a liberal arts school close to NYC, for my artistic and intellectual formation.  My creative work is an offering — a reflection of a curious, overactive mind and a heart that seeks connection, understanding, and beauty.

On my blog, Meditations with Monika, I write about intentional living, creativity, faith, spirituality, wellness, and the media that shape our lives. I explore how these intersect with complex identities — including being neurodivergent, LGBTQ+, and Christian with Jewish roots. This space is a soft place to land, ask big questions, and pursue wholeness. It’s for anyone navigating the tension between identity and belonging, change and rootedness, faith and doubt.

Alongside writing, I offer photography — a practice I’ve cherished for over a decade. From portraits to landscapes to abstract collages, my work aims to capture what is raw, real, and quietly beautiful. I’m drawn to natural light, layered textures, warm tones, and the kinds of moments that don’t need retouching to be meaningful. Visit my gallery for a glimpse, and head to the Offerings page if you’re interested in a portrait session.

This space is my heart on display — a gathering of art, insight, and soul. I’m so glad you’re here.
